what makes me different?

I LOVE DUST

I love dust is a multidisciplinary design boutique that specialises in a range of media including illustration. In the future they would be a competitor  as they can provide a range of services and will already have a strong client list where as I wouldn't. I would need to be different from them and feel if i was working a lone clients may appreciate me have there full attention.
However because I would be working alone I would need to charge more money than bigger companies as they would have more clients and more people to do the work.

enterprise task three

How will I promote myself?
to promote myself successfully I will need to create a business card that tells people my name, what im about and how to contact me. it needs to be rememberable.
I will also create a postcard of the same design and send them out which i think will be a great way to show of my skills and it is something you can keep and look back on if someone ever needs my skills.
However I will need to think about who I am targeting. I need to aim to send these postcards off to big companies as I think if I got work it would be on-going and not a one time thing.

Enterprise task two

Who are they, how will they find me?
My clients will be people looking for an illustrator for books, magazines, articles, postcards etc
I will be found by a company/design studio.
Where are my potential clients/employers located?

what media do my potential clients/employers use?
they will use a large range of media including, hand drawn/rendered, vectorised, photoshop and illustrator
what do you need to communicate and how does it match what your clients/employers needs?

Enterprise task one

Task one asks us to write a list of all the possible client groups that use graphic design in the development, production, distribution, promotion and/or communication of their products or services. Identify one client group that reflects your current ambitions within the graphic design area.

  1. advertises
  2. holiday companies
  3. school/college/university
  4. music industry
  5. food industry
  6. fast food industry
  7. event industry
  8. film industry
  9. museums
  10. art galleries
  11. magazines
  12. trasport
  13. clothing
  14. photographers
  15. sports
  16. health
From this list i would be interested in a few but the ones that stick out are fashion industry and music industry. I think I would like to look more in to the music industry.

I think the main areas in the music industry involving graphics would be album and single covers and music videos. They would also need advertisement, website, posters, t-shirts, logo design and more.
For creating album covers and posters I would need skills in adobe programs such as Photoshop and Illustrator. If I was to create a graphic music video I would need to use programs such as Flash or after effects.
Here are some album covers that i have found and like. Each one uses a different style of graphic design.

the image above uses photography and collage with added type to the middle
The image above by Funki Porcini uses photography.
If you look closely you can see in the walls the words "Funki Porcini" and "fast asleep"

This image has probably been create in photoshop or illustrator.

I would like to develop my skills in almost every adobe program that there is, which is a lot. the main ones that I would like to become an expert in are photoshop, illustrator and after effects. I would also like to widen my knowledge in printers and connecting and using the right printers to the right computer and settings. I think this is very important if you are a graphic designer so that when you go to the printer you can explain correctly how you would like your work producing. I think my typography skills need improving and experimenting with, and i would need to improve my motion graphic skills id ever wanting to create a graphic music video. I feel i already have good illustration skills but I feel they can only be maintained with practice, so I would like to spend more tie drawing and creating, I have also chosen image for my optional module, this will help me understand image and how to use it.

An amazing graphic video that i saw over christmas. If I end up working in the music industry i would like to create a video like this.
